That’s it! I completed my 30 videos challenge in 30 days! I will tell you about it a little later. So why giving ourselves challenges? Is it important?

There are the challenges that are thrown at us by others and those that life sends us. In this post, we’ll focus on the challenges we give ourselves.

Whether it is a personal or professional challenge, the challenge mobilizes our enthusiasm and awakens our sense of competition and surpassing. The emotion created at the start of a new adventure is stimulating and positive. Completing a challenge also creates tremendous personal satisfaction.

Taking a challenge

How many times have we made the decision to take on a challenge? And how many times have we given up? So what is it that keeps us going and completing a challenge?

Once the challenge is determined, it is the goals, the planning of activities and steps, which will mobilize our efforts over time to accomplish the challenge. The energy and enthusiasm we start with can wear off over time, especially if the challenge lasts for a long period of time.

A challenge is a provocation to do something we wouldn’t do naturally. This is often a spontaneous idea. It’s like starting a fight with yourself to boost motivation and kick your ass. To win a fight you need energy, stamina and to persist in completing the challenge. By including clear objectives, it will be easier to achieve and complete your challenge.

Have I failed my challenge?

I am a person who loves challenges! I have learned a lot from the challenges that I have succeeded and especially those that I have failed. A challenge is often a great idea to jump in and start something. Are we going to succeed in achieving it according to what we had in mind at the start? It doesn’t matter as long as you start your challenge and finish it. I just completed my 30th video of a challenge I gave myself. Make 30 videos in 30 days in French and in English. Without preparation or plan, I jumped on an adventure that lasted one year. You read that right, one year to produce 60 videos!

With all the content I provide in my videos, I have been unable to keep up with one video per day. After three months, I was on video number 25. Then, I got hooked onto other projects and other challenges. Despite the enthusiasm of working on new projects, I always had the unfinished challenge in my mind. I had to finish it. It is with great pride that I finally finished this video series. Did I fail my challenge? In a way, yes because I haven’t made 30 videos in 30 days. However, my goal was to complete those 30 videos, so my goal was met even though my challenge at the start didn’t turn out as planned.

Is it important to challenge ourselves?

The challenges and projects we’ve completed don’t always turn out the way we initially thought. But, once completed, they offer us great satisfaction, a sense of accomplishment and achievement. It provides experience and lessons that move us forward into other challenges. This is why I believe it is important to challenge ourselves to step out of our comfort zone and try new experiences.

In these 30 videos, I’ve learned a lot. I learned not only about the topics I covered but about the world of video production. It was a lot more work than I expected. I recognize I did some good moves and some were not as good, my strengths and my points to improve. It is with the lessons learned that anyone can improve and gain experience.

Don’t be afraid to give yourself challenges. This is important if you want to surpass yourself and use the energy and excitement of the start to jump into a rewarding adventure.

The challenges can be simple, quick, long, or complex. If you are not used to giving yourself challenges, start with a simple challenge with a short duration. Giving ourselves and achieving challenges increases our level of self-esteem and confidence. This is a very good reason to start.
