21 days meditation with Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra
You want more happiness? Better sleep? Achieve success and create a life without limit? To be healthier? Find your life mission? These are some of the themes that are addressed by Oprah Winfrey, in collaboration with Deepak Chopra and Chopra Center Meditation. They have developed meditation programs, which they believe can bring the listener to a sustainable inner transformation. The duration of the programs varies from 7 to 21 days. These programs are available through the Chopra Center Meditation website, via streaming or via the Chopra Center mobile app, available for Apple and Android. They decided to offer one of their programs for free for a limited time.
I tried the 21 days meditation and I will share with you my experience and describe a little bit how the program is build. I could not write this article without first make a short description of these two American giants which are Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra.
Oprah Winfrey no longer needs a presentation. This great lady has forged her place in the US media for decades now. She is an amazing show host, television and film producer, actress, literary critic and magazine publisher. Her favorite topics are literature, personal development, spirituality and meditation.
Deepak Chopra, of Indian origin and American nationality, is a successful thinker, speaker and writer. His favorite topics are spirituality and alternative medicine. He founded the Chopra Center for Well Being in California. The center offers various fitness and wellness programs, such as meditation and yoga.
21 days meditation experience – Shedding the weight, mind, body and spirit
As a meditation practitioner, I took the opportunity to participate in the 21 days meditation experience – Shedding the weight, mind, body and spirit. The formula is simple and always presented in the same way. There is a motivational message from Oprah. Her voice is accompanied by an inspiring relaxing but powerful music. After her message, Deepak introduces the meditation that he will be guiding and explains about the mantra that he will be using. The music is still relaxing but more quiet. Deepak guides us through meditation with a mantra. The whole session lasts about 20 minutes a day. Based on the fact that a habit is established in 21 days, they established this program over this period.
Oprah tells her message on the theme of the day. This great woman knows how to speak with emotion, conviction and passion. The program emphasizes the release of the weight that one wears. It can be at the level of the body, the heart or the mind. The emotional balance is put in the foreground. Oprah talks about her experience and her journey. She says, for example, that when we keep negative emotions buried, this prevents us from progressing. Oprah tells us that we have the power to change our thoughts and negative messages that we are constantly playing into our mind. She tells us about the flow of positive and negative emotions that must be accommodated in order to find a balanced space within our self. Every day, her message is always expressed with passion and intention.
Once Oprah is finished, Deepak speaks his message. With his deep, calm and directive voice, he presents the meditation that he will be guiding. He starts with a positive affirmation or a central thought, which will be the guideline of the meditation. For example, the guideline could be “My essence is light itself.”
Deepak invites us to repeat a mantra silently in our minds throughout the meditation. The mantra is in Sanskrit and Deepak translates it into English for us. He repeats the mantra several times so we are able to understand, retain and repeat it. The meditation begins with a bell from a Tibetan bowl. A background music accompanies the meditation where Deepak invites us to repeat the learned mantra. The meditation ends with a bell and Deepak incites to release the mantra. I find that part important because for my part, I wanted to continue. His directed suggestion allows us to get out of the meditation.
I really enjoyed the experience. Every morning, I had no trouble starting my day with a new meditation. I liked the positive energy of motivational messages associated with the actual meditation. It generated a lasting well-being for the day. In my opinion, a single listening is not enough to remember all of the messages. I will have to listen to each of the meditations again. Memory forgets and it is in repetition that it can retain and integrate the subtle information delivered through messages and meditation. I liked the depth of the messages and the meditations with mantra. The music was well balanced and supported the messages and meditation. The recording is, as expected, of very high quality.
How much does it cost?
Obviously, the free meditation had a limited duration and to continue, it is necessary to buy the programs at the online shop. The 21-day programs sell for about 49$US and the 7-day programs sell for about 25$US. Sometimes there are discounts that are available on some products. There are also sets of programs that are offered.
Is it for you?
I think it’s worth taking 20 minutes a day to meditate, regardless of the form of meditation. The programs of Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra are a good way to integrate meditation everyday. These meditations are motivational, focused and generate a positive self-energy that lasts throughout the day. So if you like this type of meditation, it could be for you. You are the judge and that is why they offer once a while some free program. It is worth to try! I also offer guided meditation that you can try on Youtube and that are available at my shop.
